Devin Shah
I'm a machine learning engineer and founder. I am graduating in May 2024 with a dual-degree in computer science and biomedical engineering from Duke University. I cofounded Octane Security. I've previously worked at SuperbAI, AiFi, and Stanford Medicine.
I strive to build tools that augment human productivity, creativity, and capability.
With this, I'm pursuing a larger goal of engineering systems at the intersection of biology and AI. We can then, start to understand human conciousness one tensor and one neuron at a time.
Notable Work
- Founded a startup that uses ML to identify vulnerabilities in smart contracts. Worked with static analyzers, fuzzers, symbolic analysis engines and augmented them with ML.
- Published a paper with the Bacchetta Lab at the Stanford University School of Medicine on optimizing FOXP3 gene editing for hematopoietic stem progenitor cells.
- Helped train and deploy SKU-detection models on synthetic data for autonomous checkout stores.
- Created a few open source projects like: GPU Puzzles CUDA C++, GPTHunt, and LectureChat.
Random Personal Interests
I'm a huge fan of music from all over the world. I actively listen to various genres. Some of my favorites at the moment are: afrobeats (Kizz Daniel, Kwame Eugene, Fireboy DML), techno/EDM/trance (Anyma, KREAM, Yotto), and UK drill/grime (Dave, Bugzy Malone, Unknown T). Follow my Spotify here. I'm curious about how we can reinvent the way we DJ and produce music; music generation model weight perturbations could lead to the creation of individual and unique sounds that are only activated by a certain human form or artist.
I love teaching people about AI and introducing them to new AI products that enhance productivity and creativity. Some of my favorites so far are: Perplexity, Cursor, and v0.dev.
I've lived in the Bay Area all of my life. I played baseball for 15 years, as a pitcher and 1st/3rd basemen, and won many tournaments and awards. I'm a huge Liverpool supporter (up the reds!). Also a big 49ers, Warriors, SF Giants, and Alabama Crimson Tide fan.
I believe that continuous progress towards augmenting and restoring our physical and mental selves is necessary to ensure long-term prosperity for humans.
